ESPN recently ranked the top 75 players that have entered the NCAA transfer portal this offseason and a recent Tennessee Vols addition made their list.
Wide receiver Chris Brazzell, who transferred to Tennessee from Tulane last month, is ranked at No. 62 in ESPN's rankings.
From ESPN: Brazzell redshirted his freshman season in 2022, but played in all 13 games this season for Tulane. He led the team in receiving yards with 711 and also had five receiving touchdowns. He has already received interest from Tennessee, and Houston recently hired Tulane coach Willie Fritz, so there could be a connection there.
How he fits at Tennessee: The Vols will have a new quarterback in 2024, likely with Nico Iamaleava taking over as a first-time starter. Ensuring he has experienced, reliable receivers around him will help set him up for success, and Brazzell can fill that role. At 6-5, he gives the Vols a big target on the outside who can potentially cause matchup problems in the future. He's a great addition for an offense that is built around its pass game.
The addition of Brazzell gives the Vols a strong wide receiver room that includes Bru McCoy, Squirrel White, Dont'e Thornton, Kaleb Webb, Chas Nimrod, Mike Matthews, and Braylon Staley.
There will be no shortage of weapons for quarterback Nico Iamaleava in his first season as the starter at Tennessee.
