Outgoing Texas Tech quarterback Michael Brewer wants to transfer to TCU or Texas upon graduation from Lubbock in May, but a Texas Tech Athletics Council panel denied his request Thursday as it did Baker Mayfield’s attempt to transfer to Oklahoma unimpeded last month. TCU and Texas make sense for Brewer, even if they’re not realistic options under his transfer restrictions. He had a good relationship with Horned Frogs co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie during their time as Red Raiders through the end of 2013 regular season. The Longhorn program is a short drive from Brewer’s home in Lake Travis and where his father and grandfather played college football. Neither school seems to have a definite idea of who its 2014 quarterback will be. Unfortunately for Brewer, Texas Tech’s restrictions on his transfer include all of the Big 12 schools. RedRaiderSports.com received a statement from Texas Tech athletics’ spokesman Blayne Beal regarding the appeal.
