Florida State could be down to third-string QB for ACC title game

The No. 4-ranked Florida State Seminoles might have to dig deeper into their quarterback depth chart for the ACC title game against No. 14 Louisville on Saturday night. Tate Rodemaker will be a game-day decision, according to the school.

Rodemaker entered the year as the backup for the Seminoles and had to take over the starting job when Jordan Travis had his season ended with a leg injury a couple of weeks ago.

Rodemaker was injured in Saturday's win over Florida when he was hit in the head during a scramble. He briefly left the game for two plays before returning. He has yet to be a full participant in practice this week, leaving his status for Saturday's championship game in question.

That means the Seminoles' College Football Playoff hopes could be in the hands of freshman Brock Glenn, who has attempted just four passes all season.

The Seminoles enter conference championship weekend with a 12-0 record and the No. 4 ranking in the latest playoff ranking. If they beat Louisville, they would seem to be a near lock to be in the four-team playoff field, even without Travis available.

One of No. 3 Washington and No. 5 Oregon is guaranteed to lose in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday and almost certainly eliminate the loser from playoff contention, while it seems to be extremely unlikely that Ohio State, Texas or Alabama would jump over FSU if the Noles maintain their perfect record.

A loss to Louisville, however, would probably end any chances the Seminoles would have and reopen the door for any of the aforementioned teams.

Rodemaker has completed 32-of-56 passes for 510 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions in his limited work this season.
