Former FSU running back Trey Benson spoke at Florida State’s Pro Day press conference highlighting the players moving on to the next level.

Benson, alongside former FSU stars Jermaine Johnson and Jared Verse, appeared at the Seminoles’ first spring practice on Tuesday.

At the end of the media availability with Benson, NoleGameday’s Logan Robinson asked about the up-and-coming running backs room as he departs for the NFL Draft.

The Oregon transfer spoke highly of true freshman Kam Davis, someone that Benson was connected with during Davis’ recruitment process.

“Kam Davis, he don’t need to lift no more weights, he good,” said Benson with a smile. “He looked like he’d been in this program for over four years now. He already built by [FSU Strength Coach Josh] Storms, he good; he don’t need to touch no more weights. You know that’s my guy though.”

He continued, offering an optimistic outlook for the running back room, especially the veterans returning such as Lawrence Toafili and Caziah Holmes.

“You know, seeing them, I was out there yesterday with the guys and Caziah, LT, Sam Singleton. I just miss being out there with the guys and you know they’re just going to pick up where I left off,” said Benson. And I know LT – he’s the leader of that room.

“Him and Roydell [Williams] and Caziah, I’m just ready to see what those guys can do.”

During his career in Tallahassee, Benson had over 2,450 all-purpose yards and 24 touchdowns in two seasons with the Seminoles.

Florida State went 23-4 with Benson as the primary ball carrier.
