Former LSU Tigers defensive back and Heisman finalist Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu along with three other former LSU football players were arrested Thursday on drug-related charges, according to Baton Rouge, LA., Police and USA Today.
Mathieu, former quarterback Jordan Jefferson and former defensive backs Karnell Hatcher and Derrick Bryant were arrested for possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
On Thursday afternoon, Baton Rouge officers were sent to an apartment complex. Officers immediately could smell marijuana as Mathieu opened the door.
"Officers immediately smelled a strong odor of marijuana and obtained consent from Mathieu to search the apartment", said the release. "Inside they found three other men, including the one who had allegedly tried to force his way through the gate. He was identified as Jordan Jefferson," police said.
Officers found 10 bags of high grade marijuana plus a digital scale inside the apartment.
Mathieu, Jefferson and Hatcher were charged with possession while Bryant, who had seven of the ten bags in his backpack, was charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
Mathieu is now likely headed for the 2013 NFL Draft.
