Former Toledo Running Back Puts Florida State in Final Three Transfer Options
USA TODAY Sports

The Florida State Seminoles are in play to land a running back in the transfer portal.

While the Seminoles are in Miami preparing to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl, they're also in the mix to land some key players who could be big-impact players in the 2024 college football season.

The well-known chase the Seminoles are in is to land themselves a marquee quarterback. Cam Ward is their potential landing from the transfer portal, but D.J. Uiagalelei is another talented option at the position.

Beyond the quarterback, the Seminoles seem to be in the running for a former five-star Texas A&M transfer in Evan Stewart. The skill positions are an area where the Seminoles can continue to improve and excel.

On Thursday, former Toledo running back Peny Boone listed Florida State in his final three transfer options. The Seminoles have a hole in the backfield that Boone could potentially fill.

As Boone told On3, Kentucky and Louisville are the other two teams rounding out his top three options. '

“These are three of the nation’s top football programs with a rich history of getting guys to the next level. All three schools have a need for a game-changer in the backfield,” Boone said to On3. “I feel like schematically I am a great fit within each respective offensive system. The coaching staffs have been nothing but supportive and professional, and I look forward to calling one of these prestigious universities home.”

Boone was the MAC Offensive Player of the Year while racking up 1,400 rushing yards on the season. He was No. 7 in the nation in rushing yards for Toledo. Adding him to Florida State would add depth to the running back room, which will likely be led by Lawrance Toafili. The Seminoles have shown a willingness to use multiple running backs so it could be a great fit to add another wrinkle to the offense.
