Former Vol Gerald Mincey is still hyping Kentucky's game against Tennessee on November 2 as spring practice nears its end

Former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Gerald Mincey hasn't been shy about talking a little trash to his former team after transferring to Kentucky this offseason. 

Mincey has gone back and forth with Vols fans on social media several times since leaving Knoxville. And he even suggested that when the Vols and the Wildcats meet on November 2 in Knoxville that Kentucky's going to "bust them in the mouth". 

"I think I owe it to all the Kentucky fans to handle business on Nov. 2 (when UK and UT play)," said Mincey in late January. "So I'm excited for that...."Kentucky has got to do more to earn it (a win against Tennessee)....I love the underdog (role). So when we go there Nov. 2 to Neyland and we bust them in the mouth, we can put the standard back over here."

Mincey met with reporters in Lexington on Tuesday, ahead of Kentucky's spring game on Thursday, and he once again hyped the matchup between the Wildcats and the Vols in 2024. 

The Florida native was asked about the speed of Kentucky's offense compared to the speed of Tennessee's offense. 

"It's not fast (Kentucky's offense), but what's different is with Tennessee, we [weren't] sideline to sideline, we were up the hash," said Mincey. "So a lot of our plays were vertical. Since I transferred here, I haven't ever really worked on inside zone/outside zone, cutting off, or even duo, just little plays like that. My trouble right now is play-action pass. It's just all different, all new to me...just keep working on it, keep trending in the right way so on Saturday, especially on November 2, we'll be in the right place."

Mincey noted in February that his former teammates at Tennessee (and at Florida, where he initially played coming out of high school) are still his brothers. But it's obvious from his comments this offseason that November 2 is personal for him. The Volunteers would be wise to make November 2 personal on their side, too.
