After taking a year off, former Wisconsin football DB/WR Dean Engram has found a new home.

On Tuesday morning, it was announced that Engram had signed with the UConn Huskies.

Engram announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal in January of 2023 after spending four seasons with the Badgers.

Engram was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, joining UW as part of the 2019 recruiting class. He chose the Badgers over offers from Penn State, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, NC State, Virginia Tech, Toledo, and several others.

The Maryland native used a redshirt in his freshman year before appearing in all seven games of the shortened 2020 season as a returner. Engram’s playing time increased in 2021, playing in all 13 games and making five starts as a nickelback, recording 20 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. He also served as the Wisconsin football program’s primary returner, recording 76 yards on 15 punt returns.

Engram switched positions to wide receiver prior to the start of the 2022 season, appearing in every game and once again serving as a primary returner. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound receiver logged 13 catches for 152 yards on offense and 24 returns for 132 yards as a returner.

Just before entering the portal, Engram teased a return to playing defensive back, which is where he will play at UConn. He’ll also play with former Badgers receiver Skyler Bell in Storrs.

Engram will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Huskies as they look to bounce back from a 3-9 season in 2023.
