The Seminoles are coming in hot during the 2023 college football season after a 45-24 win over previously No. 5 ranked LSU. While the first half was close, the 'Noles outscored the Tigers 31-7 in the second half, with the lone touchdown coming in the last two minutes against the reserves.

While the offense was explosive in the second half, the FSU defense stole the show, putting a stop to one of the most discussed offenses in the country.

Defensive lineman Joshua Farmer was a key contributor to that performance, with three tackles and one sack. Farmer played in all 13 of Florida State’s games in the 2022 season, however, this was his first start as a Seminole. The redshirt Sophomore knows what he is capable of and now it is just a matter of time for the rest of the country to see that.

“I know I got better and I proved it Sunday night," Farmer said. “I’ll prove to everybody these next couple of weeks that I’m a God because a lot of people viewed me as a nice rotational piece.”

Farmer’s defensive skills were no mystery to Florida State fans as in his redshirt freshman season last year he recorded 15 tackles as well as two sacks. Now that he has worked his way into the starting rotation he plans on making his presence known.

One thing that many fans were looking forward to in this matchup was the quarterback battle between Jordan Travis and Jayden Daniels. Both quarterbacks are in the preseason Heisman talk and have a similar playing style as they are known for their ability to run the ball and break through defensive linemen like they aren’t even there.

Having Travis “helped a lot because they’re basically the same type of runner, they’re both elusive," Farmer said.

With the FSU offense and defense both at the top of their game, having to practice against each other each day undoubtedly creates tougher competition for the opposing team. While the Tigers' offense was able to make some plays in the first half, the Seminole defense gave them trouble throughout the game.

This was evident on LSU’s first drive of the game, where they were able to reach the one-yard line off of just two passes, however, the FSU defense prevented them from scoring. Farmer noted that despite the Tigers scoring later on in the half, the Noles made a statement with that drive.

“We showed them, we proved it right there, and I think that set the tone of our defense for this season," Farmer said.

Farmer noted that this team is full of amazing athletes, and every player is able to do something special.

“Everybody on the field has got that dawg in him, if you’re on the field you’re a starter," Farmer said.

The win on Sunday extended the FSU win streak to seven games and earned the 'Noles a ranking of No. 4 in the AP poll. The 'Noles hope to add to it on Saturday as they play the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at 8:30 PM EST in Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
