Found October 27, 2011 on Nittany Lines:
In July, running back Stephfon Green said 2011 would be a season of "redemption him." Three months later, he's finally getting his chance. The fifth-year senior last week carried 9 times for 33 yards and a touchdown (his first in 20 games) in Penn State's victory over Northwestern. It was his most active game in over a year and signaled his return from offseason disciplinary issues. Green can thank his teammates for that. Initially expected to receive carries alongside sophomore Silas Redd, Green was kicked off the team prior to preseason camp for unspecified disciplinary reasons. "I doubt that he'll be back," head coach Joe Paterno said in August. But several of Green's teammates lobbied the head coach on his behalf for a second chance. Paterno reinstated Green before learning in September that the back had been charged with furnishing alcohol to minors. The incident was unrelated to Paterno's initial decision. Green was placed in the Penns...

One theme put forth by Joe Paterno critics is that the coach is too selfish to retire.I’m not going to argue that point, and I am not going to necessarily agree with it, either. But, here is another spin: What if JoePa, who preaches and practices loyalty almost to a fault, is staying on the job to protect his staff? Perhaps JoePa believes that after he retires, the Penn State brass...

Penn State Has Talent, Experience and Depth

Whomever claimed early in the season that Penn State was a mediocre team wasn't paying attention. The Nittany Lions have long enjoyed outstanding recruiting, and who can possibly discredit coaching that includes the ageless Joe Paterno and an experienced staff? They are 7-1 on the season and possess strength in all three phases of the game.

Of the top 25 teams in the BCS football standings, two schools are tied for the best graduation rate for their players, and they are Penn State and Stanford at 87 percent.  This is according to the latest statistics released Tuesday by the NCAA.
