DESPITE A SECOND STRAIGHT week of defensive shakiness, the Cougars’ offense managed to put enough plays together to take a sloppy 21-15 lead into halftime over California in Berkeley. A week after leaving the drubbing by Stanford with an injury, Connor Halliday was back to throw for two touchdowns.

Emmitt Su’a-Kalio, a freshman defensive end on the Washington State football team, was arrested and charged with second degree assault after getting into a fight with a teammate inside the locker room.
According to reports, a fellow player says that Su’a-Kalio sucker punched him, breaking his jaw.

VINCE MAYLE ISN’T exactly sure how it happened. When the junior wide receiver broke away from several California defenders for a 72-yard touchdown reception from Connor Halliday, he just did what he was trained to do. “I really don’t remember it at all,” he said of the Cougars’ longest scoring pass of the day. “I just got loose – I guess.”
The Cougars came away from Romney Stadium with a much better result than last year's contest.
WHEN IT COUNTED, they made it happen. Despite some early defensive fobbles, a solid showing by the offense helped Washington State roar right past the California Golden Bears, 44-22 in Berkeley. The Cougars' first win against the Golden Bears since 2002 was anchored by an injured Connor Halliday, who threw for three touchdowns and set a school record for pass attempts.
