After a long bye week, the Buckeyes continued “the Chase” on Saturday and defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes by a final score of 34-24. While the first half was essentially forgettable for the Buckeyes, Ohio State came out in the second half and attacked Iowa relentlessly. There were plenty of big plays and great moments from Saturday’s contest, but two Buckeyes rose to the cream of the crop to accept their Buckeye Empire Helmet Stickers. *Hint: We’ve seen these two before. In fact, two weeks ago. Offensive Helmet Sticker: Carlos Hyde, running back If Carlos Hyde wasn’t suspended for the first three games of the season, he might be in the thick of the Heisman Trophy race. However, if Carlos Hyde wasn’t suspended for the first three games of the season, would we have seen this Carlos Hyde at all? While that question may never be answered, Hyde has certainly answered the bell for the Buckeyes went it has mattered most. After a dominant performance in which Hyde ran for 168 yards and three touchdowns in Evanston, Hyde rested during the bye week and put up similar numbers against Iowa. With the majority of his numbers coming in the second half, Hyde finished with 149 yards and a couple of touchdowns, including an unbelievable endzone scamper that earned him a place on ESPN’s “Top Ten” segment. In the past two games, Hyde has rushed for 317 yards and five touchdowns, earning him back to back Buckeye Empire Helmet Stickers. Braxton Miller came close this week, however, after he completed what might have been his best passing performance as a Buckeye. Miller completed 22 of his 27 pass attempts for 222 yards and two touchdowns of his own. He also ran for 102 yards to give the Buckeyes multiple 100-yard rushers on the day. If the Hyde-Miller duo can continue their dominance, we may just call them the best quarterback-running back combo in the entirety of college football. Defensive Helmet Sticker: Doran Grant, cornerback After making one of the biggest and most defining plays of this season in Chicago- a play that earned him his first Buckeye Empire Helmet Sticker- Grant was at it again and helped the Buckeye defense bear down against the Hawkeyes in the second half on Saturday. Needing to step up after a controversial penalty that sent Bradley Roby back to the locker room, Grant was up for the challenge and helped lock up some of Iowa’s better receivers. While Iowa’s lone interception may have ended up in the hands of Tyvis Powell, it was Grant’s dominant play on the outside that forced Rudock to look elsewhere with the game on the line. Roby’s struggles have certainly been evident this season and Grant has absolutely stepped up to the plate. With the defensive backfield struggling this season, it’s great to finally see a leader emerge. That leader is undoubtedly Doran Grant. Past Helmet Sticker Winners: Week One: Offensive Helmet Sticker: Jordan Hall, running back Defensive Helmet Sticker: Ryan Shazier, linebacker Week Two: Offensive Helmet Sticker: Kenny Guiton, quarterback Defensive Helmet Sticker : Steve Miller, defensive lineman Week Three: Offensive Helmet Sticker: Kenny Guiton, quarterback Defensive Helmet Sticker: Joey Bosa, defensive end Week Four: Offensive Helmet Sticker: Kenny Guiton, quarterback Defensive Helmet Sticker: Chase Farris, defensive lineman  Week Five: Offensive Helmet Sticker: Braxton Miller, quarterback Defensive Helmet Sticker: Ryan Shazier, linebacker Week Six: Offensive Helmet Sticker: Carlos Hyde, running back Defensive Helmet Sticker: Joey Bosa, defensive end, Doran Grant, cornerback
