Asa Turner pulled up a chair, leaned back, got comfortable and watched a handful of his former University of Washington football teammates in all seriousness try to impress NFL scouts with their speed, athleticism and knowledge.

This was Pro Day 2022 in the Dempsey Indoor, with the Huskies coming off a hugely disappointing 4-8 season and a half-dozen of these guys trying to show it wasn't necessarily their fault while others such as Turner were casual spectators.

On March 29, this NFL audition takes on a whole different atmosphere.

For starters, Pro Day will coincide with Kalen DeBoer's second UW team returning from spring break and running through spring practice in the morning, preceding these tryout activities, which will run to 1:30 p.m.

Now a senior and returning starter, Turner will be part of the Husky practice early in the day, with his Pro Day still a year away.

As many as 10 Huskies, with everyone feeling good about themselves while coming off an uplifting 11-2 showing with DeBoer in charge, will run through the paces for the pros.

The Pro Day participants will include kicker Peyton Henry, center Corey Luciano, offensive guards Henry Bainivalu and Jaxson Kirkland, running back Wayne Taulapapa, edge rusher Jeremiah Martin, linebackers Cam Bright and Kris Moll, cornerback Jordan Perryman and safety Alex Cook.

The event is not open to the public.
