'I just don’t wanna play for clicks!' Cormani McClain throws massive shade at Deion Sanders after Colorado exit
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

In 2023, Cormani McClain, a five-star recruit, turned down the Florida Gators to play for Deion Sanders after he joined the Colorado Buffaloes. However, a year after his massive move, McClain left the Buffaloes while taking a shot at coach Sanders.

Born in 2004, McClain was the top-corner prospect coming out of high school. Initially committing to play for the Gators, he heard Deion Sanders recruiting new players to build the ultimate team in Boulder County. This propelled him to transfer away from Miami and end up in Colorado.

He is back in the transfer portal once again and is now looking for a new home. Recently, he posted a video on YouTube revealing details about Buffalo’s program under Sanders.

I just don’t wanna play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players. Cormani McClain can be heard saying in the video

This might be the reason why Shilo Sanders was recruiting for new players along with Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders

Cormani McClain is aiming for the next step

Deion Sanders’ first year as the Buffaloes head coach did not go as he had announced. He warned every other team that they were coming to win every game. In the end, they won 4 and lost 8, with an average of 30 points conceded per game.

As a result, Sanders called out several of his Colorado players for not being attentive in their studies and practice. One of them was Cormani McClain. Sanders expressed in an interview with DNVR that he only wants the best for his players.

I’m always in prayer for our young men, and I want the best for them. Deion Sanders said

McClain remained silent about the criticism back then, but after leaving the program, he threw some shade that players weren’t too happy with the coaching staff or the environment. As for the 20-year-old, he wants to use this opportunity and play for a college where he can develop his skills.

[I want to] change the narrative surrounding my name and be a part of a real and great program that’s going to impact me to the best of my ability. McClain said

Sanders wished only the best luck for McClain and prayed that wherever he landed, they could “develop him as a young man.

Unfortunately, we weren’t the program that could accomplish that... Go get it, man, because he has a tremendous amount of talent. But he has to want it. Sanders said

Besides McClain, 12 players entered the Transfer Portal even before the offseason training program kicked off. 15 more followed after the window opened. So a total of 27 players have already left the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024.
