Indiana Football RB Trent Howland has re-entered the transfer portal a source confirmed this to HoosierIllustrated.com.
Howland also posted the announcement on Twitter/X one week before Indiana’s Spring Game.
Thank you to Indiana and the new staff for the opportunity to walk cream & crimson again. I know all things happen for a reason. With that being said I will be re-entering my name into the NCAA transfer portal on April 15th with 2 years of eligibility left.

The redshirt-junior originally entered the transfer portal after Tom Allen was fired. He committed to Minnesota before decommitting and returning to Indiana.
In 2023, Howland played in 11 games for the Hoosiers, finishing with 376 total yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-3 230-pound running back also averaged 4.7 yards per carry.
Indiana football added four experienced running backs this offseason with Kaelon Black, Justice Ellison, Elijah Green, and Ty Son Lawton joining the team.
With so many experienced running backs, it is not a surprise to see Howland enter the transfer portal. Now he will likely look to join a program with plenty of opportunities for him.
