Jackson State adds to unprecedented recruiting class with nation's No. 4 WR, Kevin Coleman

Jackson State made waves in the college football landscape in December when the school landed the top recruit in the country, flipping cornerback Travis Hunter from his commitment to Florida State. A weeks later, JSU coach Deion Sanders kept the good news pouring in when he landed four-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman.

Coleman, who is the No. 4 wide receiver of the class in 247Sports' rankings, announced his commitment at the All-American Bowl on Saturday, choosing JSU over Florida State, Miami, Oregon and USC.

In addition to the commitments of Hunter and Coleman, JSU also has a large infusion of talent on the way via the transfer portal. Among the nine players who are transferring from an FBS school to JSU are Miami wide receiver Mark Pope and South Carolina tight end Keveon Mullins, who were both four-star recruits out of high school.

Jackson State competes at the FCS level and won the SWAC Championship in 2021 for the first time in 14 years. Sanders was hired in 2020 after the team finished 4-8 in the 2019 season.
