Vanderbilt coach James Franklin has helped change the philosophy of the school’s football team seemingly overnight. New facilities, better players and an overall attitude shift have helped make them relative in the SEC. Want to help Franklin take his team to the promise land and hop aboard his staff? Applicants beware; it’s more than just [...]

  • Yep,Thats why Vandy IS and always WILL BE a JOKE!!! Force in the SEC my ass!!
  • Okay, but is there a strong correlation between coaching in the SEC and command of the English language?
    WTF???? Maybe go back to middle school for a refresher course before ya make anymore public statements. Maybe they should have asked to see his SAT score before they hired him. Just sayin'.

    There’s a very strong correlation between having the confidence, going up and talking to a women, and being quick on your feet and having some personality and confidence and being articulate and confident, than it is walking into a high school and recruiting a kid and selling him.
  • At what point did Vandy become a "force" in the SEC? Are you kidding me? Let's see, their SEC wins were against Ole Miss and Kentucky. I think you meant to say that they've become a "farce"...just like their joke of a coach!

  • OMG...what year IS this - 1952???? Get real man...
  • The best aspects of Vanderbilt will always be four things:

    1) It's named after the Vanderbilt family;

    2) It has an incredibly large endowment;

    3) It is a top research institution;

    4) It has elite law and medical schools

    Where in that itemization do you see "...an elite football program"?

    This coach actually has a point, but he shouldn't overuse the philosophy. Logically speaking, a hot wife can be a "sufficient" condition for being a potentially good recruiter, but it is not - and should not be construed to be - a "necessary" one.

    In closing...yes, he needs to go back to high school and study some basic English.
  • I knew a sales guy that had a super hot wife. He was fired from his position at 3 companies because he never met his quota. He certainly didn't prove that a hot wife was sufficient to recruit clients. It's a ridiculous premise anyway you look at it. Perhaps the assistant coaches with hot wives at Vandy could help the cheerleading team recruit their talent. Now that I could buy!
  • If you take what he's saying (and my slight validation) too literally, you wind up with discussions like this one. I don't think this guy means it literally. Do you really think this guy would reject Norm Chow, for example, if his wife wasn't hot? I don't take what he's saying too literally. I think he means that a hot wife is a bonus that indicates a prospective assistant's recruiting possibilities. But the argument fails when you consider that the assistant might be prettier than his hot wife. In those cases, he didn't have to "recruit" her.
  • Your perspective is skwed. Why are wives recruiting tools? Do it the old fashioned way cash and strippers, not wives>>>>>>
  • Actually, I don't think anyone is taking his comments too seriously; however, the real issue here is that the coach of a Div1A program should know better than to even jokingly make a comment like this in public. Perhaps he should focus more on winning games in the SEC than making comments that make he and his program look bad. If he had the record of Saban or Miles, perhaps he might get away with it (though both of these guys would know better), but he just comes off as looking like someone trying to get attention.
  • Huh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Who is this dipstick? Let me see his wife!

  • Vanderbilt hired this moron??
    Thats the SEC I guess!
  • Vandy...just dropped a few notches from the "Stanford of the South" with these idiotic comments.

    Prediction: if MSNBC or Gawd forbid Gloria Allred runs with these comments consider dudes coaching career OVER!

    What a tool. Bye bye Coach Franklin.
  • what a dumb az!!!
  • I agree with OregonCoast Coach Franklin should be fired. You can not say things like this. It is the times we live in. Look a little closer I bet he is or has had affairs with his assistants wives or girlfriends. What a moron.
