Jeff Carter Named NHL's 'Second Star'

Flyers center Jeff Carter was named the NHL's "Second Star" for the month of December while rookie winger Claude Giroux, recently called up from the Phantoms, was named AHL "Rookie of the Month" for December.
Carter joins Boston goalies Manny Fernandez and Tim Thomas, who were named co-first stars and Washington's Alex Ovechkin, named third star. Carter recorded 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 14 games as the Flyers went 9-3-2. He notched points in 11of those games, including goals in nine contests. He posted multiple points in five games.
