Josh Heupel has Tennessee Vols in elite category with Ohio State and Georgia and he's not slowing down

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel has the UT football program among elite company and it's just the beginning of the fun for Volunteers fans.

When Heupel arrived at Tennessee in early 2021, he promised that the Vols' offense would be the "aggressor".

After three seasons, it's fair to say that Heupel's delivered on that promise.

The Vols are averaging 39 points per game over the last three seasons. According to the SEC Network's broadcast of Tennessee's Orange and White spring game on Saturday, the only programs to average more points per game during that span are Ohio State (40) and Georgia (40).

A few years ago, when Jeremy Pruitt was leading the program, the idea of the Vols scoring nearly 40 points a game was a foreign idea (Tennessee averaged just 21 points per game in Pruitt's final season).

Heupel quickly turned things around for Tennessee's offense, using numerous players that Pruitt signed.

The exciting thing for Vols fans is that Tennessee's roster is just now starting to look as Heupel has envisioned since arriving in Knoxville. He's recruited high school players and added transfers that perfectly fit his offensive philosophy.

As good as things have been on Rocky Top the last several seasons, the Vols are really just getting started.
