The 2024 NFL Draft is getting close, making it an excellent time to highlight some of the class' best players with scouting reports. Each report will include strengths, weaknesses and background information.
Here's our report on Kendall Milton.
Milton is a specific kind of back as you project his transition to the next level — he has a traits profile that will find a place in the NFL as a complementary or committee back, depending on the team and scheme. Milton is a 225-pound back who runs to his size with defining traits of natural power and strong contact balance to work effectively at the first and second levels of the defense.
Milton’s 2023 tape showed excellent vision with a good feel for the pace and tempo of zone and gap scheme runs, as well as an innate sense of gap fluidity and defensive flow to make quick cuts early in runs. Milton is a tough, competitive downhill runner who gets hard yards at the first and second levels of the defense, but he lacks any home run ability.
Too often, when he got to the third level of the defense, he would look to hunt up defenders and initiate contact at times, going down too easily and leaving yards on the field. The bottom line with Milton is that he is a professional runner with excellent size, clean vision, pace, tempo, natural power and competitive toughness, and those traits always find a place in the NFL.
Milton came out of California as a highly recruited four-star prospect and a top-10 running back nationally. He played four years at Georgia, finishing his career with a strong 2023 season: 121-790-6.5-14 TD.
