Kennesaw State's First FBS Signing Class Ends Up As Their Best

Bohannon sat down with the voice of the Owls following singing day and was asked if he found the type of players that he wanted to bring into the program. 

"I think there's no question," said Bohannon. "It starts with this class and a bunch of guys who want to come and make history and wanna do something special and wanna be apart of something that not everybody had the opportunity to do."

What stood out about the Owls in this signing class is the amount of offensive lineman they brought in to secure quarterback Jonathan Murphy. The average size of the lineman in this class for KSU is 6'5" and 300 pounds.

"We're really revamping on the offensive line," said Bohannon. "I think we made a huge step forward, but we are not done yet. But we made a huge step forward with this group. You got some young guys, you got some old guys, you got a mixture. Obviously we are bigger. With the things we are doing, we have to be bigger, so we're excited about the step we took in this early signing period, but we have some work left out there."

The 15 names that Bohannon and his staff brought in this Early Signing Period marks  the highest-ranked class in program history.

JUCO offensive lineman Christopher Cain (6'7", 300 pounds) is the biggest offensive lineman that the Owls recruited. However, the most interesting lineman that Bohannon brought in was Benjamin Kienz from Germany, where he attended one of the NFL Academy programs.

"We have some connections with the NFL Academy now, which I think has been really positive," said Bohannon. "They got guys who they are helping learn the game, and he actually came to camp this summer and was on campus. Think it was like 6'7", 260, ran a 4.9 at camp this summer... These are some other connections we're trying to make to go get some young men that can help us."

The Owls were able to pick up Power Five wide receiver transfer Christian Moss from Virginia Tech, along with high school receivers Jaden Robinson and Javon Rogers.

On the defensive side of the ball, Bohannon brought in high school linebacker Tywon Christopher who had 194 total tackles, three sacks, and 26.5 tackles for loss in 41 high school games.

Although the pickup of Moss was a big one as well as addressing the offensive line, there is still certainly plenty of work to be done with this team. However, this is not a bad beginning at all...at least on paper.

Kennesaw State can still sign JUCO players through January 15 and and can sign players during the regulars signing period that begins on February 7.
