The Kentucky coaching staff has nearly wrapped up the 2024 recruiting class, so now it's time to move on to 2025.

The Wildcats are in the hunt for a handful of top players in the 2025 class but, at this point, do not currently have any players committed. Kentucky has had 2025 visitors on campus a bunch this season and another top target will be in town for the Wildcats matchup with Gonzaga.

Five-star combo guard Jasper Johnson will be in town this weekend to visit the University of Kentucky. Johnson is ranked as the 12th best player in the 2025 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Johnson has ties in Lexington as his dad Dennis played football for Kentucky in the late 90s and early 2000s. Dennis Johnson is the head football coach at Woodford County High School. His son was just on a visit to Chapel Hill to see what UNC had to offer, and it seemed to go well. After visiting Lexington this weekend, Johnson will head to the Plains to visit Auburn, ironically, in a game where the Tigers play Kentucky. Johnson is taking plenty of visits, so this weekend will be John Calipari's opportunity to make a really good impression with one of the best guards in the class.

247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein had this to say about Johnson, "Jasper Johnson is a southpaw scoring guard who has spurts of extreme tough shot-making when he gets hot. He has a super soft natural touch and is very crafty around the lane with a deep bag of runners, floaters, and other types of finishes, in addition to the jumpers and step-backs he’s capable of making from the perimeter. Physically, Johnson is lean, but he’s very long with a recorded +5 wingspan. In addition to building up his body, he also needs to learn to impact the game more when the ball isn’t in his hands, or more specifically, when he’s not on one of his scoring sprees."

If the visit goes well, it would not shock anyone to see Johnson want to play at the same school where his dad played football. Coach Calipari will continue to push hard after Johnson, who is one of the best guards in the 2025 class.
