The Nebraska football team was back on the practice field Saturday and that offered the chance to host some recruiting visits.

There were a few key targets to know about in the 2025 recruiting class specifically who visited on Saturday led by Chase Loftin, a four-star tight end and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Nebraska. Loftin said he liked what he saw from the offense. He also told Husker Online he will visit Miami and Florida State this week.

Texas A&M has also worked its way into the mix after a recent visit. Loftin’s recruitment has gone national but the 6-foot-6, 215-pounder has been to Lincoln a bunch. The Huskers have their work cut out for them but I wouldn’t bet against Matt Rhule when it comes to an in-state recruit.

Another in-state recruit, Jackson Carpenter, also visited on Saturday. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete has multiple crystal ball projections to Nebraska football. He’s ranked as the seventh-best player in the state via the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also No. 868 overall.

The three-star recruit told Husker Online he will return for the spring, as well as an official visit this summer. That’s a positive, especially with Kansas firmly in the mix for his commitment. Three-star offensive tackle Malachi Goodman also visited Nebraska football. He told Husker Online he will decide on official visits soon, but it feels like the Huskers will get one.

Nebraska baseball rallies for another win

The Nebraska Cornhuskers spotted Ohio State an early 2-0 lead on Saturday but used a six-run inning in the bottom of the fifth to come away with a 7-3 win, clinching their second straight Big Ten series win. Nebraska baseball is now 22-6 on the season overall and 5-0 in the Big Ten.

Mason McConnaughey allowed two runs early in the game but that was it. He tossed 6.1 innings and surrendered just five hits while striking out five to earn a quality start. It was the second straight for the Nebraska baseball pitching staff as Brett Sears dominated on Friday with a complete-game shutout.

Cayden Brumbaugh went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and a triple. He’s reached base safely in 20 straight games. Dylan Carey also added two hits and belted his second home run of the season.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Ohio State will wrap up their three-game set on Sunday at 2:05 CST on BTN+.
