King of Props: Answering McCall

It seems appropriate that the bowl game sponsored by TicketSmarter could almost be mistaken for a classic rock concert. Hosted by the Alabama city mentioned in a Lynyrd Skynyrd anthem, the contest features two schools from the area that James Taylor would lyrically go to in his mind. With Coastal Carolina and East Carolina squaring off in the Birmingham Bowl, we’ve got tickets for an aerial show as our top prop:

The bet: Over 268½ passing yards for Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall (DraftKings)

A fourth-year junior, McCall has entered the transfer portal but will still be starting his final game for the Chanticleers. He has thrown for 2,633 yards and 24 touchdowns with just two interceptions, and his eligibility to play two more seasons makes him highly appealing to suitors.

Interim head coach Chad Staggs, taking over after Jamey Chadwell departed for Liberty, has praised the QB’s decision to fulfill his commitment. The same is true for all-conference center Willie Lampkin, who will be playing for North Carolina next season, and the team boasts a healthy set of receiving weapons.

McCall has exceeded 300 passing yards four times this season and now faces an East Carolina defense that essentially allows that much per game, ranking dead last in the country. It won’t be surprising to see him reach that mark again in his farewell – and getting to 367 would allow McCall to conclude his Coastal Carolina career with his first 3,000-yard season.
