Le’Veon Bell kicked off his 2012 Heisman Campaign with a 44 carry, 210 yard, and 2 Touchdown spectacular. Bell also had 6 catches for 55 yards in Michigan State’s 17-13 win over Boise State.

“He’s one of those guys that if you keep giving him the ball he’s going to get stronger,” Boise State head coach Chris Petersen said. “They have a big offensive line. Eventually you’re going to get worn out on defense. We’ve got to be able to help ourselves on the other side of the ball, but we didn’t do that.”

QB Andrew Maxwell remains a question on offense. While he exhibited superb arm strength he also showed poor decision making and through errant passes. Maxwell threw three interceptions although two of those bounced off receivers’ hands. Tight end Dion Sims had an impressive night with seven catches for 65 yards.

Michigan State’s defense routed the Boise State squad in the opening quarter and remained dominant throughout the game. The Spartans outgained the Broncos 461 to 206 yards. Michigan State controlled the ball for 39:19 minutes. However because of 4 turnovers and an abundance of penalties (10-90 yards) the game remained close until the 4th quarter.

This game was the first time Boise State did not score an offensive Touchdown since a 58-0 loss to Washington State on September 29, 1997.

Michigan St is having a rough night against Boise St, well, except for Le’Veon Bell. The Spartan running back announced himself to the nation with this amazing display of athleticism early in the their game on Friday night. Looks like he learned good technique from watching Summer Olympics.
