Louisiana Tech Linebacker Suspended Indefinitely After Stomp on UTEP Lineman
USA TODAY Sports

In the midst of Friday's Louisiana Tech-UTEP game, linebacker Brevin Randle stomped over the neck/head area of offensive lineman Steven Hubbard after the play was whistled dead. Randle was not penalized following the play.

Hubbard was in a defenseless position when stepped on. He immediately showed signs of pain following the stomp on the head.

Just a day later, Louisiana Tech Athletic Director Eric Wood released a statement announcing the indefinite suspension of the linebacker. The news of the suspension was first reported by Matt Belinson of the Ruston Leader.

"He [Brevin Randle] acknowledges that his action was wrong and understands the consequence of that action," said Wood in his statement. "Our University, athletic department, and football program believe in culture, class, and competitive excellence and in no ways was that displayed in that moment."

Through the first six games of the season, Randle totaled 46 tackles, with 23 of those being solo tackles. He also had two sacks on the season.

It is uncertain what the next steps will be with Randle and it is also even less certain when he will be making his return to the football field this season.

The Bulldogs continue their season October 5 when they host Western Kentucky.
