Tevin King ran for 182 yards and Louisiana Tech pulled away from Lamar with a pair of late scores for a 27-14 win on Saturday night. The Bulldogs (1-1) never trailed against the Cardinals (1-1), but Lamar kept the contest close as Louisiana Tech won its home opener. Louisiana Tech built a two-score lead for the first time late in the third quarter on a 44-yard field goal from Kyle Fischer to go up 17-14. The Cardinals responded with a 62-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Berry to Jordan Edwards to come within three points early in the fourth quarter. But Fischer booted a 49-yard field goal before Andrew Guillot scored on a 19-yard run with less than two minutes remaining to put the game away. The Bulldogs amassed 273 yards rushing while limiting the Cardinals to 90. Edwards caught five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown to lead Lamar.
