LSU Tigers runing back Michael Ford 300x204 LSU could possibly lose running back Michael Ford Spencer Ware SEC possible suspension Michael Ford LSU Tigers Les Miles Kenny Hilliard Alfred Blue academic problems Miles announced on Monday that running back Michael Ford is going through an appeal process to allow him to play. Ford has some academic issues that could keep him off the field for the 2012 season.

“There is some appeal process that’s being undertaken for those guys, and we’ll kind of have to wait to see how that all turns out as we get closer to the game,” Miles said.

Ford led the Tigers in rushing last season with 756 yards and 7 TDs. Fortunately for Miles, there are about four guys behind Ford that are just as good.

Miles released the depth chart on Monday also, sophomore Kenny Hilliard and junior Alfred Blue were listed as the starters, followed by Ford and Spencer Ware, who has slipped quite a bit.

Miles said of Hilliard and Blue that “they’ve had the best camps and that’s where we’re starting” when addressing the reasons they were named starters.

If you watched any of LSU’s games last season, you know that all of these backs are good enough to start for the Tigers, so losing Ford may not cause any problems for the Tigers.

The AP will not be re-voting after learning of the possible loss of Ford.

30 Teams in 30 Days: #4 The Lousiana State University Tigers

Head Coach: Les Miles (75-18, entering 8th season) The Story: In 2011, LSU ran through one of the strongest schedules we’ve seen in quite some time. Through their regular season schedule they were not only unscathed, but downright dominant hammering opponents not named Alabama by an average of, I don’t know, a billion or so. [...]

North Texas-LSU Preview

Les Miles had hoped LSU could have a drama-free August this season. It hasn't quite worked out that way, but the No. 3 Tigers expressed confidence on Monday that a season full of promise would not be derailed by the loss of their biggest star, the looming possibility of a couple other key players being sidelined by academic issues, or even the potential disruptions that could...
