And just like that, a fantastic LSU football offensive line group has lost some big-time depth ahead of the 2024 season. Earlier today, rising freshman offensive lineman Jo Cryer entered the spring transfer portal and will look for a new home this fall.

It’s a tale as old as the transfer portal. Sometimes, there’s such thing as too much competition, and when players find that they’re falling behind on the depth chart, it often leads to a loss or two during the spring transfer window.

For LSU and their impressive group of offensive linemen, it’s almost surprising it didn’t happen sooner. With a nearly set in stone starting lineup and multiple veteran depth pieces, there aren’t exactly immediate snaps available over the next few seasons.

In turn, shortly after the 2023 season came to a conclusion for the Tigers, the purple and gold suffered two offensive line transfer losses to in-conference foes. Senior Marlon Martinez committed to Mississippi State, while freshman Lance Heard is making his way to Tennessee. However, after those two initial losses, coach Brian Kelly and his squad have largely been able to hold strong.

That is, until earlier today, as rising freshman offensive lineman Jo Cryer is now the third Tiger in his position group to enter the transfer portal.
