LSU Football: Tigers Sign 5-Star Offensive Lineman Weston Davis

LSU football pulled off one of the biggest moves on the recruiting trail in the 2024 cycle after five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to LSU.

Now, he's made it official after putting pen to paper on the first day of the Early Signing Period. 

LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis made the trip to Beaumont (Tex.) in October for a visit with Davis. Shortly after, the decision was made.

Davis pledged to LSU.

The No. 3 offensive tackle in America joined a 2024 recruiting class that was in need of a major splash. Now, LSU receives the exclamation point to the current cycle.

The Top 20 prospect in the country had remained committed to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M since the summer, but LSU’s coaching staff continued to push for the coveted offensive lineman.

With the signature of the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder, the Tigers have now reeled in a five-star offensive lineman in the last three recruiting cycles with Will Campbell (2022) and Lance Heard (2023) joining Davis.

It’s as big of a move on the recruiting trail as LSU could have made this year as Kelly and Co. continue making moves in order to bolster this roster for the long haul.

We’ve seen the Tigers sign three 2024 commitments who LSU successfully flipped from their previous programs.

Bernard Causey: Flips From Ole Miss to LSU

The 6-foot, 160 pounder out of New Orleans, La. reopened his recruitment in October after remaining committed to the Ole Miss Rebels since June. Kelly and his recruiting staff made a push for Causey. After losing a commitment from four-star cornerback Ondre Evans this fall, LSU made sure to do its work in order to land reinforcements. Now, Causey is officially a Tiger, 

PJ Woodland: Flipped From Mississippi State to LSU

The Mississippi native backed off of his pledge to Mississippi State in October and wasted no time in revealing his commitment to the Tigers. A player who was trending towards the Ole Miss Rebels, LSU once again got him back down to campus with this program ultimately sealing the deal during the fall. 

Woodland was in Baton Rouge for the Tigers’ victory over Auburn before making the trek back to Louisiana for the Week 8 contest against Army.

The 6-foot, 160-pounder fills a void in this LSU defense for the future with those within the program intrigued with his long-term potential. Woodland is in the midst of an impressive senior campaign with his Oak Grove program handling business.
