In his brief time as head coach at Ohio State, Urban Meyer concedes it's not everything he thought it would be. Despite a 2-0 record and No. 12 ranking, Meyer is not pleased with many aspects of his first Ohio State team. He has pointed out problems with the running backs, the wide-receivers, both lines, the secondary and linebackers. Now he's challenging fans to rise up and be louder. With California (1-1) coming to Ohio Stadium for the first time since 1971, Meyer wants the Buckeyes faithful to be more involved. At the same time, he recognizes his team needs to be more intense in order to light a fire under the fans. About all that makes Meyer happy these days is the play of his star quarterback, Braxton Miller.

Ohio State’s Braxton Miller begins his Heisman chase

No one can deny that Saturday’s Ohio State game vs UCF could have been named “The Braxton Miller Show!” With three rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown, Miller was finally starting to look like the type of quarterback Buckeye fans are used to seeing. Following the game, it came as little surprise that Miller had finally made the list of candidates for the Heisman trophy...

Braxton Miller with another mesmerizing touchdown run

If the Heisman Trophy were awarded after two games, it’s hard to argue that Ohio State’s Braxton Miller should probably be the winner. Entering the Buckeyes Saturday showdown with Cal, the sophomore quarterback had already thrown for three touchdowns and rushed for five more. And, well, Miller is up to his old tricks again today, having already thrown for two touchdowns...

Braxton Miller will be the best Meyer quarterback yet

You don’t suppose he was already practicing the Heisman pose last year, do you? Numbers aren’t everything, and relying solely on what they may or may not reveal is a dangerous approach to sports comparisons. Professional baseball is a sport built on them; college football is not. With that said, they can guide us in the direction of an educated opinion and can indeed tell...

Miller steps up late to lift Buckeyes

Braxton Miller lofted a 72-yard touchdown pass to an all-alone Devin Smith with 3:26 left and Christian Bryant snuffed out California's last chance with an interception to power No. 12 Ohio State to a 35-28 win on Saturday. The Golden Bears (1-2) missed three field goals and had a touchdown called back by a penalty, while the Buckeyes (3-0) gave up 512 yards and were outplayed...

Containment a concern against Miller

Outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett and the Cal defense must balance patience and aggression when facing mobile Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller.

Buckeyes hold off Cal, move to 3-0

Catch me if you can (you can’t) Coming off of an imperfect win over UCF, Urban Meyer‘s Ohio State football team faced another non-conference opponent on Saturday. This week, the California Golden Bears came to Columbus to play on a cool, crisp Saturday afternoon in front of 105,232 at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes escaped with a 35-28 victory. Though the Buckeyes’ offense again...

OSU Risking A Lot By Running Miller So Much

OSU quarterback Braxton Miller is on pace to challenge Eddie George's single-season rushing record, but can the Buckeyes afford to continue putting their franchise player at such risk? We have some thoughts about that along with the regular weekly features including the Fearless Forecast.

Late TD helps No. 12 Ohio State beat Cal

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Braxton Miller lofted a 72-yard touchdown pass to an all-alone Devin Smith with 3:26 left and Christian Bryant snuffed out California's last chance with an interception to power No. 12 Ohio State to a 35-28 win on Saturday. The Golden Bears (1-2) missed three field goals and had a touchdown called back by a penalty, while the Buckeyes (3-0) gave up 512...

Box Score: (12) Ohio State 35, California 28

Fans and analysts were clamoring for Braxton Miller to run the ball less. Today, Urban Meyer’s gameplan was much different, running Miller just 12 times for 75 yards and one touchdown as he instead threw for four scores as the Buckeyes survived a scare from the Cal Bears 35-28 in The ‘Shoe. Miller threw for 249 yards, and Jordan Hall took the load rushing the ball with 17 carries...

By Mark ReaBuckeyeSports.com COLUMBUS, OH - What had been a game featuring all the consistency of a sloppy joe turned into an old-fashioned barnburner in the fourth quarter before 12th-ranked Ohio State pulled out a 35-28 victory over upset-minded California on Saturday afternoon in front of 105,232 sun-drenched fans at Ohio Stadium. Meyer wants a louder Ohio Stadium

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Forget about satisfying poll voters, administrators, alumni and fans. Even coach Urban Meyer says there are a lot of things about the Ohio State Buckeyes that haven't met his lofty expectations so far. Now he's calling out his players -- and to a lesser degree, the team's scarlet-and-gray clad faithful -- to turn things around. Despite a 2-0 record...
