This weekend, the Purdue Boilermakers will take on the No. 3 Wolverines at the Big House in Ann Arbor — Michigan’s first matchup since the sign-stealing scandal really gained steam over the bye week. Ahead of the game, first-year Purdue head coach Ryan Walters made some strong claims against the Maize and Blue, stirring up a strong response from Michigan football legend Braylon Edwards on social media.

Michigan football legend fires back at Purdue head coach

Today, Michigan football legend and former Big Ten title-winning wide receiver Braylon Edwards had a chance to respond to Purdue head coach Ryan Walers’ claims about the Wolverines’ alleged sign-stealing ring. For context, here is what Walters said ahead of this weekend’s matchup against Michigan:

“It’s unfortunate,” Ryan Walters said. “And what’s crazy is they aren’t allegations. It happened. There’s video evidence; there are ticket purchases and sales that you can track back. We know for a fact that they were at a number of our games. We’ve had to teach our guys a new language in terms of some signals, and we will operate differently offensively. You might see us in a huddle for the first time this season. It is what it is. But we’re excited to go play, and I think it’ll make for a great story.”

Below is what Braylon Edwards had to say in response.

“Lmao, ‘we were aware that they had scouted a couple of our games’ This is getting too hysterical,” Edwards said on Twitter. “No one has scouted a Purdue football game since Drew Brees (in 1998). Shut up With this foolishness. If OSU and PSU said something, then let’s talk. Rutgers, Purdue, MSU? Pathetic and weak!”

Like many Michigan football fans, Edwards clearly thinks that the allegations against the Wolverines have gone too far, and the mass hysteria against Jim Harbaugh‘s team has gotten out of hand. Michigan will host Purdue tomorrow night at the Big House, with kickoff currently set for 7:30 PM.
