Michigan Football is preparing for the Outback Bowl which will be played on New Years Day at 1pm. While we wait for that game, here are some team notes and recruiting updates.
Kick returner/RB, Dennis Norfleet has moved to cornerback. He will continue to return kicks.
Freshman wide receiver Amara Darboh made a spectacular grab in a recent bowl practice. Check it out here
Michigan will wear new uniforms for the Outback Bowl. See the video below for details
JT Floyd, Brandin Hawthorne and Will Hagerup have been suspended for the Outback Bowl. For Floyd and Hawthorne, both seniors, it is a sad ending to their Michigan careers.
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jerald Robinson has decided to leave the Michigan Football team.
Michigan will host Notre Dame on September 7th next season and it will be a prime time game on ABC/ESPN. The University will also honor 1940 Heisman Trophy winner, Tom Harmon, in a pre-game ceremony. This will be the second night game in the history of Michigan Stadium.
Taylor Lewan faces a big decision after the Outback Bowl. The All-American lineman is being projected as a Top 10 pick by many draft experts and he must decide whether or not he will return to Michigan for his final season of eligibility.
Many analysts believe that Michigan is in the driver’s seat when it comes to the recruitment of the nation’s top running back, Derrick Green. The re-commitment of David Dawson is a good thing for the Wolverines as he is close with the 5-star running back. Dawson is rated by ESPNU as the top offensive guard in the country.
Michigan received a commitment from Dawson’s Cass Tech teammate and former Iowa commit, Delano Hill – a 4-star safety.
Wisconsin commit Marcus Ball is being recruited to play linebacker at Michigan. He was in town for Michigan’s big recruiting weekend last week.
Tennessee commit Dan Skipper visited Michigan last weekend. Skipper is a mammoth 6-foot-10, 295 pound offensive tackle. Don’t be surprised to if he makes a commitment to Michigan in the near future.
Leon McQuay III will announce at the Under Armour All-American Game in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 4.
5-star WR Laquon Treadwell has eliminated Michigan and has a final 3 of Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

MESSING WITH TRADITION
After Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon said that the Alabama game would be the only game that Michigan would wear special uniforms for, the Michigan Football Twitter account unveiled these new uniforms today.Honestly, I’m not a fan, not even a little bit. I would be okay with the jerseys, since they’re basically the Alabama jerseys but with blue striping; but messing...
The University of Michigan football program prides themselves on maintaining the tradition that they have had since the beginning of time. The winged helmet which was borrowed from Princeton (where former Wolverine head coach Fritz Crisler once coached) and Michigan State. Crisler brought the wings to Ann Arbor after he left the Ivy League. Traditions and lack of change has gone...
The University of Michigan has suspended three players from the Outback Bowl due to violation of team rules. Those suspended are cornerback J.T. Floyd, punter Will Hagerup and linebacker Brandin Hawthorne. We don’t know what their violation was, but we do know that another player on the team’s roster plead guilty to driving with a suspended [...]
Here they are.
Can't say I love the unis. Actually not at all. Maize numbers are an interesting choice. Looks to me like the maize's don't all match up. I've been waiting for the day when Michigan would attempt a matte helmet. It's not bad. At least the maize isn't chromey like MSU's green or OSU's red when they played us.
Suspended Michigan senior cornerback J.T. Floyd had released a statement apologizing for his recent suspension from the Jan. 1, 2013 Outback Bowl. The suspension, for the ever-vague "violation of team rules" effectively ends his college football career.
Part of the apology includes the following:
"I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the University...
Michigan suspends three players for the Outback Bowl and this should help the Gamecocks. The three players are defensive back JT Floyd, punter Will Hagerup and linebacker Brandon Hawthorne. All three were suspended for a violation of team rules.
The university has not disclosed the nature of the violations, but the following statement from Michigan head coach Brady Hoke was released...
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Denard Robinson pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license but still remains eligible to play in U-M’s inevitable Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina. He paid a fine and faces no additional punishment from the university. The Wolverines suspended three players from this game earlier this week including their punter, who got the Big Ten punter...
Michigan senior captain Jordan Kovacs has one game left wearing the winged helmet but he's not spending his time looking back on an exciting career. Kovacs talks about the development of Dennis Norfleet at corner and more.
Michigan senior offensive guard Patrick Omameh discusses the Wolverines mindset as they prepare to head down to Florida on December 23rd, the recent suspensions of three teammates and the difficulty playing along the offensive line early in a career.
