EAST LANSING — The Big Ten may have had a down year on the field, however, they excelled immensely in the classroom. The Big Ten led all conferences this year with nine student-athletes named to the Capital One Academic All-America first or second teams in football. This is the eight straight season that the Big Ten has led all FBS conferences in Academic All-American’s. Michigan State’s junior linebacker Max Bullough and sophomore punter Mike Sadler are two of the nine student-athletes to be named to these prestigious teams. They were both named to the Academic All-America second team. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be in at least his second year of athletic eligibility, be a first-team or key performer and maintain at least a cumulative 3.30 grade point average.
