Photo of Michigan flag hung at Notre Dame Stadium

According to University of Michigan fans, Ohio State is the rivalry that matters in football. But, a crew of UofM students cooked up a little prank to play on out-of-conference rival Notre Dame, who the Wolverines play this weekend in South Bend.

According to MLive.com:

A group of eight University of Michigan undergraduate students traveled to South Bend, Ind. on Tuesday night, and fired the first shot of Wolverine-Fighting Irish week — hanging a large block “M” banner outside Notre Dame Stadium that read “Beat the Irish.”

The students sent photos of the flag to various media outlets. The Big Ten Network confirmed with Notre Dame that the banner wa hung, and promptly removed very early Wednesday morning.

In addition to the banner, the group also told MLive.com via email that it ran a University of Michigan flag up a flag pole on one of the Notre Dame campus quads.
