Mississippi State is playing host to Kentucky tonight in Starkville as part of ESPN’s weekly Thursday night showcase, and the school is expecting an extra rowdy crowd on hand to support the Bulldogs. MSU decided that it wanted to get those fans engaged in the game beforehand, and created a hashtag that fans could tweet if they want to appear on the stadium’s video board: All your tweets using #Fight4MSU will be shown on the video board tonight, so tweet away! — MSU Football (@HailStateFB) October 24, 2013 However, when it was announced that all tweets featuring the hashtag would appear on the screen, Twitter exploded with literally thousands of tweets trolling Mississippi State. The tweets aren’t even all mean ones — many are as random as can be: Should have paid Cam. #Fight4MSU — Sab (@Sabanocchio) October 24, 2013 I found a tooth in section 326, whose is it? #Fight4MSU — GoBlin (@okerland) October 24, 2013 Dan Mullen hated “Breaking Bad” #Fight4MSU — Landthieves (@LandThieves) October 24, 2013 Our school’s football players graduation rate-59% #Fight4MSU — Joe In Bugaha (@JoeInBugaha) October 24, 2013 Do you think the umpires should’ve overturned the call last night??? #Fight4MSU — Chris Kosiak (@C_K_42) October 24, 2013 My mother is a fish. #Fight4MSU — Taylor DeCastro (@trinitymotors) October 24, 2013 I think it’s safe to say not all of the tweets will find their way onto the screen. It was a great try by the school, but the Internet always wins.
