National Signing Day has become bigger and bigger as the media evolves to serve the recruiting needs of dedicated college football fans. FOX Sports, CBS Sports, and Yahoo! Sports all go all-out on National Signing Day with various shows and coverage. ESPN has taken matters to an entirely new level and treat National Signing Day like it’s the NFL draft. ESPNU schedules TV announcements for top recruits, and they have cameras in the “war room” to monitor the reactions of coaches expecting to receive a signed letter of intent from players. Ole Miss was the big winner on National Signing Day this year. They pulled in what many felt was the top recruiting class in the country and were featured prominently throughout the day Wednesday on ESPNU. Their coaches were shown celebrating each time a recruit chose to sign with them. But did you realize that the reactions from the coaches shown on TV were actually staged? Out of respect to the coaches, many recruits notify schools of their decision before they make their televised announcement. Such was the case for Ole Miss, which received signed letters of intent from some recruits in advance. Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples had an outstanding article that explains how Ole Miss assembled the top class in the country. In the article, he mentions that Ole Miss received a faxed letter of intent from OL Laremy Tunsil at 9:00 a.m. ET Wednesday — the first moment players could send in their signed letters. Tunsil’s announcement wasn’t until 30 minutes later on TV, which means that although the Ole Miss coaches were elated, their reactions were not of genuine surprise. Here’s how it looked on TV: The post Ole Miss coaches had to fake reactions for TV cameras on National Signing Day appeared first on Larry Brown Sports. RUMORS & GOSSIP

LeSean McCoy refuses to return Chip Kelly's calls

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills, he was — to say the absolute least — not a happy camper. McCoy is a Pennsylvania man: He was born there, he went to High School there, he went to college there and he spent the first six years of his professional career there. So to be jettisoned off to Buffalo with no notice seemed a bit cold, and that’s...

Report: Bulls players did not endorse Tom Thibodeau

Barring an unexpected turn of events, the Chicago Bulls will soon part ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau. Chuck Pagano: Colts 'further ahead than ever before'

The Indianapolis Colts are entering their second week of OTAs, and with the way his team is coming along he is very pleased. “We are further ahead,I think, then we’ve ever been at this point in any offseason, since we’ve been here.” Pagano told reporters yesterday. That is high praise as the Colts are heading into their fourth season under the head coach. The Colts have...

Somehow, the Patriots are going to be just fine

Love them or hate them. There’s really not much in between for football fans in terms of the New England Patriots, but there is no denying that the defending Super Bowl champions are a well-oiled machine. The Patriots have made more noise than anyone else this offseason as a result of the “Deflategate” investigation that concluded New England quarterback Tom Brady likely...

Dwight Howard says he's 'still a champion' after playoff exit

Dwight Howard is a “glass half full” kind of guy, which is an admirable trait. Except when the glass is empty.   Howard’s Houston Rockets fell to the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals Wednesday night, thus extending their NBA title drought to 20 seasons. After the game, Howard — who led the Rockets with 18 points, 16 rebounds...

WATCH: Klay Thompson takes knee to head from Ariza

The Golden State Warriors took care of the Houston Rockets and emerged victorious in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night, but a big question mark surrounds the health of the Splash Brothers—Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Curry took a scary fall and exited Game 4, although he did later return. The league’s MVP struggled on Wednesday as well, draining...
