NCAAF Week 12: Louisville Cardinals vs. Miami Hurricanes betting picks, preview

Right now, the ACC Championship game is shaping up to be Louisville vs. Florida State. To guarantee their spot the Cardinals have to win this weekend though. If they don't, three teams with a couple of league losses suddenly get new life. Miami is not one of them though; the Hurricanes are 2-4 in the league after back-to-back losses.

Louisville Cardinals vs. Miami Hurricanes Betting Trends and Odds

Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 — Noon ET
Odds: Louisville -1, Over/under 46.5, Louisville -120 | Miami +100

This game is essentially a pick'em. Things have not gone the way they were supposed to in Miami for head coach Mario Cristobal. However, twice they have been home underdogs this season, and in both cases they won outright, against Texas A&M and Clemson. Some teams are just better in certain roles, I guess, but will that success continue?

Pick for Louisville vs. Miami

Louisville ML

The Cardinals' lone hiccup this season was a loss at Pitt. I don't think anyone can explain that one, but there is a lot to like about the Cardinals this year. The thing I like most is their ability to win a variety of games — they have won scoring as few as 13 points and as much as 52. The offense is pretty balanced for coach Jeff Brohm, who has been leaning in on one of the most productive running backs in the country, Jawhar Jordan.

The defense has been great too (not his bread and butter), Louisville is giving up just 17 ppg. There were a lot of reasons to think that bringing Brohm home to Louisville would lead to success but I don't think anyone thought he would win this much so soon. Miami has no real advantages to lean into other than being at home. A decade-plus of mediocrity has limited that though.

Miami at home used to be must-see TV. That is not the case anymore. Even though the line here is negligible I don't see a ton of interest in this game moving the number much. It is early in the week and so far the markets have yet to reveal which side they prefer.
