Nebraska football made a commitment from 2025 four-star quarterback TJ Lateef on Sunday. He made the announcement to Hayes Fawcett.

Lateef is the 17th overall quarterback in the 2025 class, and the 23rd overall player in his class from the state of California per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He had a lengthy offer sheet, which included the likes of Colorado and Ole Miss . Those two schools in particular were in contention for his recruitment, along with Nebraska football.

Quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas was the recruiter for Lateef.

The Huskers did a solid job overall in terms of his recruitment. He most recently said that Nebraska made him feel like a ‘priority.’ He came to Lincoln for the spring game most recently, taking an official visit.

When you look at what Lateef brings to the table, this is a major get for Nebraska football. His playing style is similar to others in the room, in the sense that he is a pocket-passer. He does a good job of progressing through his reads, and finding his target.

What does this mean for Nebraska football?

In addition to his solid decision-making, he also possesses a strong arm. This undoubtedly helps with getting the ball down the field, and will be an asset to all of the talented receivers both in the wide receiver room. His arm strength is undoubtedly one of the biggest assets of his game, and that will work well with the playmakers coming into the room.

With this commitment, the 2025 Nebraska football recruiting class continues to cruise. The class itself ranks 30th overall nationally per the 247Sports composite rankings. The coaching staff has done a really nice job of trying to complete the class, and adding talented athletes to it.

The Nebraska football quarterback room is set for the foreseeable future. There is a tremendous amount of talent in the room.  Not only that, they now have a quarterbacks coach to work with in Thomas. You could see the impact Thomas made in the quarterback room during the spring game, as Heinrich Haarberg’s throwing motion looked better, and the freshman looked strong.

You can never count out Nebraska football on the recruiting trail, and they made that clear this weekend. This was another big get, for a quarterback room that is already miles ahead of where it was last year.
