ORLANDO, FL - JANUARY 1: Head coach Joe Paterno of the Penn State Nittany Lions leaves the field following the 2010 Capital One Bowl against the LSU Tigers at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium on January 1, 2010 in Orlando, Florida. Penn State won 19-17. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)
Frank Solich leads his Ohio Bobcats to Beaver Stadium this weekend with no fear.

A lot has changed since our last podcast. The Joe Paterno statue was the topic of our last football episode, and whether or not it should stay up or come down. Paternoville had just changed their name to Nittanyville. And the debate over whether or not the NCAA needs to issue any sort of punishment to Penn State was just getting started. The statue is down, trees planted in its place. The NCAA threw the book to Penn State, a debate that continues well after the fact.

Now, we can focus on football and this is a good thing.

Penn State opens up the 2012 season at home Saturday afternoon with the Ohio Bobcats coming to Beaver Stadium for a tough first test for Bill O'Brien. Nobody should be looking past Ohio with the Penn State offense turning to young, unproven players in key spots and the Bobcats advertised as a MAC favorite. With no postseason possibilities to worry about, will Penn State play with a carefree attitutde? How quickly will this offense come together with a new staff leading the charge?

Joining the podcast today to take a look at Penn State's first opponent and offer what may be a fresh point of view to what is going to happen Saturday, we are joined by Jason Arkley. Jason is the beat reporter from The Athens Messenger covering the Bobcats and was kind enough to give us a look at what kind of team Penn State will be facing this weekend and what it means for the Bobcats. Here is a spoiler alert, this is a big opportunity for Ohio.

Some of the topics covered in this week's episode:

  • How Ohio prepares for what could be an emotionally charged team, and environment
  • Frank Solich's ability to build a program using in-state talent
  • The value of quarterback Tyler Tettleton
  • Does Penn State have a physical advantage over four quarters?
  • How does Ohio prepare for Penn State offense without knowing what to expect?
  • Strengths and weaknesses of Ohio and Penn State
