No. 49 Fresno State Bulldogs (9-4) Coach Tim DeRuyter (second season, 9-4 at Fresno State, 10-4 overall)Returning Starters: 15, 7 offense, 8 defense, 0 special teamsRecruiting Rank: 72 Strength of Schedule: 105 Fresno State's first year in the Mountain West Conference went about as well as one could expect. The Bulldogs finished co-champions of the league with a 7-1 conference record. The Bulldogs put up big numbers all season long (including a 69-14 win against Colorado), but saw themselves outgunned by SMU in the Hawaii Bowl during a 43-10 defeat. Senior quarterback Derek Carr returns after putting up amazing numbers on his way to being named MWC Offensive Player of the Year. Carr threw for 4,104 yards with 37 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Head coach Tim DeRuyter said, "I think that as good of a quarterback as he is, he could be the greatest in Fresno State history and he's got one more year to do that.
