Noah Whittington 'Going to be down for a little bit' According to Dan Lanning

Oregon Football came away with a statement win on Saturday, dismantling the Colorado Buffaloes 42-6 at home.

But it didn't come without some bumps and bruises. Following the game, head coach Dan Lanning said that running back Noah Whittington will likely miss multiple weeks after going down with what looked to be an ankle injury in the second half.

"I don't normally talk about injuries and I think there's still more to be decided here, but I think Noah's going to be down for a little bit," Lanning told reporters. "So I need everybody to say prayers for him. He's healthy, he's okay, but he's probably gonna be down for a little bit, so need everybody to have Noah in your prayers and that is a tough kid man. A tough kid that we're really proud of and fortunate to have and there are bright days ahead for Noah, I just don't know that we'll have him here in the next few weeks."

Whittington was carted off the field with his left cleat removed and "Looked dejected" according to the ABC broadcast. He exited Saturday's game with 8 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught 1 pass for 1 yard.

Oregon finished the day running for 240 yards on 38 carries and scored 3 touchdowns on the ground.

With Whittington sidelined for the next few weeks, expect Oregon to turn to veteran Bucky Irving as well as sophomore Jordan James. After shining as the team's short-yardage back in 2022, James is off to a hot start for the Ducks, accounting for 209 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns through four games this season.

The Ducks' roster also features true freshmen Dante Dowdell and Jayden Limar, a pair of four star recruits they signed in the 2023 class.
