The Northwestern Wildcats hope they can finally move on from their fourth-quarter struggles.
After holding on for a 23-20 victory over Michigan State on Sunday, the Wildcats are very much in the mix for a quality bowl bid at the end of the season.
Northwestern (8-3, 4-3 Big Ten) blew fourth-quarter leads in losses to Penn State, Nebraska and Michigan, so the Wildcats had reason to be anxious when Michigan State took over at its own 20-yard line with 1:29 remaining, needing a field goal to tie.

In his Northwestern debut, forward Nikola Cerina suffered and apparent ankle injury and was forced to leave. The extent of the injury remains uncertain, but it was a disappointing start to his NU career.
The regular season comes to a close on Saturday when the Wildcats host rival Illinois at Ryan Field. It provides the chance for Northwestern to finish its season the right way. Former standout Jack DiNardo offers a look at the team.
The leaves are off the trees, the sun sits lower on the horizon, and with each day that passes we advance toward a future of a truly bleak nature. The late summer and autumnal dreams have faded leaving us all discomfited and searching for a lone perpetrator whom has caused our woes. The days will soon grow colder and this season will mercifully draw to a close, but we shall find...
