Over 100 of the top players from the 2026 recruiting class were offered by Notre Dame on Sunday as a part of their Pot of Gold offer event. That includes Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central pass rusher Jerimy “JJ” Finch, who is a player right in their backyard.

If the school Warren Central rings any bells, it is because that is the same high school as former Irish star Sheldon Day. Finch’s teammate Damien Shanklin is also a key defensive end target for Notre Dame in the 2025 recruiting class.

There has been a huge push for Notre Dame to keep the Indiana and Illinois players that the staff wants “at home”. They can’t let talent get away from them in their backyard, and Finch is a player that seems to fit that description.

Recruiting is just beginning to heat up for Finch. He currently holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Louisville Indiana, Marshall, Toledo, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Jackson State. That number promises to increase very quickly.

The 6-3, 220-pound defender put together a really impressive sophomore season for Warren Central. As a part of a deep and talented pass rush, Finch collected 41 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and three sacks. Finch also forced two fumbles, recovered another, broke up a pass and blocked a kick on the season.
