Few players in Ohio State history have garnered the fans respect and admiration as a non-starter than Kenny “Low G” Guiton.  A true fan-favorite even before he got his chance at stardom, Guiton was always known as a strong candidate for the starting position at Ohio State.  The obvious emergence of Braxton Miller changed all that, but Guiton has proved himself as one of the most reliable backups in all of college football. A redshirt senior, Guiton was recruited by Jim Tressel as a three star (Rivals) dual threat quaterback out of Houston, TX.  After only throwing a combined 2 passes his first two seasons on the field, Guiton was brought into a situation in which no Buckeye fan wanted the team to be in.  After an injury took Braxton Miller out of the game, Guiton was brought in to try and bring the Buckeyes back from a 4th quarter deficit.  The pressure was on to keep the dream of an undefeated season alive, and Guiton did not disappoint. Going 6 for 11, and throwing for 77 yards, Guiton brought the Buckeyes back to tie the game and take it to overtime.  After eventually prevailing, Guiton had not only cemented himself as a reliable backup, but also as a guy who could easily start at many universities in the Big Ten.

The Backup: ‘Keep Calm and Put Kenny G In The Game.’

At some point in the 2013 season Braxton Miller will be taken out of the game. Hopefully it only happens when the Buckeyes are leading big late in the game. However, we all know that at some point in the upcoming season, Braxton is going to have miss a series due to injury. It’s football, not a knitting class and people sometimes get hurt, it’s part of the game. When that happens...
