Oklahoma State DT Brendon Evers to skip rest of season to prepare for 2023 NFL Draft

Redshirt senior defensive tackle Brendon Evers was expected to be a big part of Oklahoma State's defense this season. Unfortunately, the sixth-year senior has decided to forgo the rest of the Cowboys' 2022 season as he deals with an unspecified injury.

Instead of trying to come for the rest of the No. 11 ranked Cowboys season, Evers has decided that he's going to focus on healing up in an effort to best present himself for the 2023 NFL Draft.

“Sometimes God has a different plan than the one you originally thought,” Evers posted in a statement on Twitter. “After much prayer and consideration with my family, coaches, and medical staff, I have decided to forego the rest of the 2022 season and prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft. Forever a Cowboy."

As a senior, the 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive tackle started all 14 games for the Cowboys, notching 21 tackles (seven solo). This season, he's played in five of Oklahoma State's first six games, starting four. He was expected to be a starter for OSU's matchup with No. 20 Texas this weekend, but clearly, the Cowboys will need to come up with a Plan B.
