Oklahoma wide receiver Jalil Farooq was arrested Thursday night in Norman.

A day ahead of No. 9-ranked OU’s visit to Stillwater to play their final Bedlam game against Oklahoma State, the Sooners issued a brief statement.

“We are aware of the matter and it is being addressed internally,” an OU spokesman told AllSooners.

Fox 25 News reported via Twitter Thursday that Farooq was arrested around 9 p.m. Thursday after a traffic stop. Farooq’s vehicle had an expired paper tag, and officers noted in the police report that Farooq was “driving erratically.”

Farooq, a junior from Maryland, leads the team with 449 receiving yards and is third with 26 receptions to go along with two touchdown catches. He’s also sixth on the team with 64 rushing yards on 14 attempts and leads the Sooners with 291 yards on 13 kickoff returns (a 22.4-yard average, which ranks sixth in the Big 12 Conference).
