Fox Sports Ohio:
The ever-changing Ohio State linebacking corps will look different again Saturday at Penn State, though the latest tweak is different than the others.
More meaningful, too.
Ohio State sophomore linebacker Ryan Shazier will switch from his usual No. 10 to No. 48 in honor of his late friend Gary Curtis, the manager on Shazier's Plantation (Fla.) high school team.
Curtis, who had muscular dystrophy, died last spring. The wheelchair-bound Curtis continued to manage Plantation's high school team for two years after he graduated. The Plantation Colonels have dedicated their season and drive to Florida's state championship to Curtis.
Shazier wrote on his Twitter account this week that he's making the change for this national showcase game at Penn State. Curtis's Twitter account was @GCurt48, his last tweet was March 18.
Shazier is the leading tackler, with 76 stops and two sacks on the year, for the 8-0 Buckeyes and had fifteen tackles against Penn State last season.
BEST OF MAXIM
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Braxton Miller was his usual self, running for 134 yards and accounting for three touchdowns a week after getting knocked out of a game, leading No. 9 Ohio State to a 35-23 victory against Penn State on Saturday.
Ryan Shazier returned an interception 17 yards for a score early in the third quarter that gave the Buckeyes (9-0, 5-0 Big Ten) the lead for...
For the second straight season The Ohio State men’s basketball team enters the year ranked in the Associated Press top five. The Buckeyes start the season ranked fourth, matching their ranking in the pre-season coaches’ poll.
The top five in the AP poll looks identical to the rankings as voted on by the coaches. Indiana is the national favorite, collecting 43 of 65 first place...
CHICAGO -- When decision time came for Deshaun Thomas last spring, he handled it much in the same way he'd handled his decision to attend Ohio State.
He trusted himself to know what was best.
Though he's been known to use third-person -- during last year's NCAA Tournament, he said he knew Deshaun was special in fourth grade -- Thomas wasn't saying that selfishly...
I haven't watched that much Ohio State this year but it's clear that Braxton Miller is that man that stirs the drink for them. I flipped over to their Penn State game tonight and witnesses this fantastic TD run.
From the moment they first set foot on Ohio State's football team, quarterback Kenny Guiton and receiver Chris Fields have been in the background.
Fans and reporters brushed by them to get to the starters. Their names seldom were mentioned unless it was someone casting doubt whether they could even fill in if they were suddenly thrust into a game when it mattered.
After a slow start, the Ohio State offense awakened to lead the ninth-ranked Buckeyes to a 35-23 win at Big Ten rival Penn State. The Buckeyes survived Penn State's White Out, winning at PSU for the third time in a row, to move to 9-0 on the season and take control of the Leaders Division. Braxton Miller accounted for three touchdowns in the win.
According to coach Urban Meyer’s call in show (hat tip to 97.1 The Fan’s Lori Schmidt) , RB Jordan Hall reinjured his knee in practice yesterday. The injury is serious enough that Hall likely won’t play again this season.
Meyer said “If all goes well, he’ll redshirt and come back next year.”
Hall played in parts of 5 games for the Buckeyes after missing the beginning...
Against a ghostly army of more than 100,000 fans clothed and painted white, the Buckeyes overcame a special teams blunder, a costly turnover, and a Nittany Lion team looking for their signature win of the season. Braxton Miller led the offensive effort, accounting for three total touchdowns, and Ryan Shazier made big plays on the defensive side to lead the Buckeyes to a 35-23 win...
From the time it was announced that Jim Tressel would be leaving Ohio State, one man had been on the minds of not just the Buckeye faithful, but all of the Big Ten: Urban Meyer. Even as Luke Fickell took over the reins for Ohio State last season, the writing was on the wall that Fickell was there to serve as the buffer between the Tressel and Meyer eras.
The minute Meyer set...
Praise was heavy for the Buckeyes who stepped up to rally past Purdue last week as well as for the recovery of the Penn State program from a potentially devastating tragedy and scandal. We look at that and more in this week's review.
