Dillon Gabriel is one of the top quarterbacks available via the transfer portal, and there may be one school already in the lead to land him for the 2024 season.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Tuesday that Gabriel is expected to visit Oregon soon. Additionally, Thamel named the Ducks as the favorite for Gabriel.

On Monday, 247 Sports named USC and Mississippi State as contenders to land Gabriel, in addition to Oregon.

The Ducks will be losing Bo Nix after this season and seem to have the jump on the competition with Gabriel.

The southpaw quarterback has been in college for five years. He spent 2019-21 with UCF and 2022-23 with Oklahoma. This season, Gabriel passed for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions while leading the Sooners to a 10-2 record.

During his college career, Gabriel has passed for 14,865 yards, 125 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. He has rushed for 1,060 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Oregon has been one of the top Pac-12 programs since 2000. They have 14 double-digit win seasons, including four in the last five years. The team has gone 21-5 since new head coach Dan Lanning took over in 2022.
