Man, life is rough for Penn State these days. I mean, seriously rough. Not only are there scholarship limits and post-season bans on the football program, but now... now teams don't even want to come to Beaver Stadium. It's being reported that Virginia informed Penn State it will be backing out of it's contract for the back end of the home-and-home series in favor of a game at home with Oregon.  Yes, we get playing a home game can give you a lot of money, but DAMN.... Basically the Wahoos are saying they'd rather attempt to make money in Charlottesville and get their teeth kicked in than play a guaranteed $$$ game on the road that could be a win (after all you did win last year too).  Ouch. I mean that's got to be slap to the ego of the Nittany Lions. Besides that it leaves them to scramble for a home game, one that appears to be filled by the UCF Knights. So, fans in Happy Valley can fork over a ton of money a home slate that reads like this - Eastern Michigan, UCF, and Kent State - boy that'll really help sell out the over 100,000 seats in Beaver Stadium I'm sure.  I mean, they couldn't even sell out for a season ending game at home against Wisconsin last season - a season that ended a remarkable 8-4. It's really got to hurt to have to replace the Wahoos with the Big East's UCF Knights, hey at least they aren't a complete slouch like the rest of the schedule. Don't believe me - ask anyone that saw UCF nearly derail the might Buckeyes in the horseshoe last season - I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you about Braxton Miller's escape job and the memory they'd rather erase. All in all, it's just another sign of the crazy times we're seeing in the world of college football, one where money rules above common sense and honoring contracts. It's not as if Virginia doesn't have enough home games in front of it either, they are already playing three home games in non-conference action. Head scratching? Yes. Frustrating for fans forking over hard earned cash? No doubt about it.
